I highly recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Victoria. It truly offers the best Thai food I’ve had in Canada. The prawn fried rice I ordered was absolutely outstanding—full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent, with staff who were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I will definitely be returning on my next visit.

May 8, 2025. The best Thai restaurant we've had in BC so far yet. Most notable was the service and food. There was only one waitress on duty that night and she always had a smile to greet us and always accomplished her tasks with professionalism. The food was much to delight us. We ordered the larb gai, tom yum goong and pra larb prig, all in medium spice. The larb gai was very fresh and definitely appealed to our Asian taste buds. Tom yum goong wasn't sweet unlike many restaurants who just add sugar to it. You feel the spice and proper heat. Lastly the fish was scrumptious. Great sauce and again, heat. Although it was fried, we can taste the freshness of it. The other thing to note is the generous portions, combined with quality reflects the price setting. We will be back!

Be prepared to wait. On a Sunday night for 2 with no reservations, we waited about 40 min to be seated. Then waited about another 15 min to place our orders. The restaurant only has two waitresses, and they were very busy running the restaurant and take out orders, so just gotta be patient. I got the vegetarian sweet and sour noodle dish #72, and my husband got the gaeng Pak curry #76. We both enjoyed our dishes. I'm a vegetarian and I was excited to see a vegetarian section on their menu, but the curries listed in that section actually have shrimp paste and they cannot make the curries without it. So that was misleading and disappointing, resulting in the 4 star. They only have thin rice noodle dishes, no flat wide rice noodles. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff were busy but very attentive and nice.

Good food! A bit on the sweet side. The only thing we did not enjoy was the dessert. The beef could be more tender or a higher quality beef (it was a bit tough for flavourful).

We had Sookyai Thai cater a small (20 person) event in our backyard. Working with Jena was amazing - she helped make suggestions, customize the order, and saw to everything. On the day of, the food arrived just as planned and there was more than enough for all. Several people asked where the food had come from and said it was their best Thai experience. I suggest you try this!

Sookjai is a great place to get quality Thai food. My husband and I went there last night (this was our 3rd or 4th visit). After 20 minutes of wait, we were seated. We ordered Pad Thai and deep fried snapper marinated in soy sauce. Snapper was so crispy and fresh, marinated well. And Pad Thai- the noddle was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. My only complaint is they usually take long to serve (ours took about 30 minutes) but for quality of the food we both thought the wait was worth. Reservation recommended!

An absolutely wonderful place. I love Thai cuisine, and this is some of the best I’ve had. The customer service was amazing and, even beyond that, kind. The food was rich in flavor. 10/10, I would definitely eat here again.
